Dale A Becker - Custom Sculptural Tiles

This is late due to illness.

And it doesn't have a website. And I don't know where it came from.

The card is black with a picture of a blue tile square with red and yellow accents. The title of the piece is "The Promise" (it says so underneath.

Other than that, I got nothin'.

Bronze Age Studios

I had to Google this one to find out who it was.

Kristin Thorson makes some of my favorite sculptures at the NY Renaissance Faire. Some day I will have a house and I'm going to want one of her fountains. Until then I will have to love them from afar.

Here is a piece I spotted last year:

jmdesign flowers and events

I have no idea where I picked this up. I can guess WHY though.

It's the card for Jayson Munn and his studio in NH designs floral arrangement for weddings and events.

I must have grabbed this to add it to Red Gown Weddings

Renboots.com

Sorry this is late. It's been one of those weeks.

Another easy one. I know these guys from a stack of Ren Faires.

AND hats, and baldrics..

In addition to having really nice products, these guys have sheltered me from the rain once or twice.

Writing Wood

"Handcrafted Writing Instruments"

I know exactly where this card came from. It was the Big Brothers Big Sisters Craft Fair - last year I believe. They have these gorgeous pens, and I LOOOOOVE fountain pens.

I haven't made an effort to keep any of my three fountain pens full for years tho. This is something I should really work on. I don't "need" a good pen at work, but I certainly WANT one.

Perth Pewter / Medieval Productions

This is one of the vendors at the New York Renaissance Faire in Tuxedo NY. They've been holding down the same booth for years, and for good reason. There work is really nice, and they've got a little bit of everything.

My all time favorite product carried by Perth Pewter is their Bodice Chillers. Specifically the Titmouse Bodice Chiller. I don't own one quite yet, but it's simply a matter of time...

New England Dark / Obscure Events Calendar

I have no idea when or where I picked this up.

The "From Dust" e-zine is no longer active, but all their resource sections are still getting updates. The card I have is specifically for their New England Dark / Obscure Events Calendar. The text above the URL says "Want to know about upcoming goth / industrial / dark wave / dark ambient / noise / ethereal / dark electronic / etc events in the New England area?" (Actually it says dark ambient twice...)

My assumption is that I grabbed this card with the intent of adding it as a resource on the Strange Things To Do page of my website.

Side Note: I ran out of steam trying to build my own events calendar. Plus I'm going to be revamping that whole site soon. (I hope.) I may keep the page available, but I'm definitely not going to be updating it any time soon.

Macomber Glass

I met Nathon Macomber at the Paradise Arts Festival. He's a glass worker, and he makes many beautiful things. But my FAVORITES are his spiders.

Paradise Spider

I took that picture with my phone, so the quality is very "meh".

I spoke with him for a little bit, and we discussed how awesome spiders are. He's makes them in different sizes, but the one I took a picture of was referred to as mamma...

Sleeping Dragon South

This is a great card to start with.

Back when I was in high school, I was at the New York Renaissance Fair (Sterling Forest in Tuxedo). There was a dealer there called Sleeping Dragon who made plush posable dragons that sit on your shoulder. I got one made of bronze scaled felt, and brought him to many MANY fairs. He's since been retired as he's had one or two repairs, and I don't want to stress him any more. Sleeping Dragon stopped participating in the NY fair and I haven't seen them since.

But that's not where this tale ends! That's just the back story.

A few years ago, a friend of ours owned a comic shop. My husband and I were hanging out, chatting with our friend when I noticed posable, plush dragons in his front case! Turns out his sister used to work with Sleeping Dragon, but they were cutting back on the number of fairs they were attending. (or something, I may be misremembering.) So she became Sleeping Dragon South.

Oh and shortly after that my husband bought me a NEW dragon, this one is tiger striped.

Changing the format

I've decided to change the format of this account from "Strange Things for Strange Children" to an archive of all the business cards I've collected over the years. Some will be strange. Some won't.

New posts will happen Wednesday mornings.

Right now I'm going to take a few minutes to change the look and feel of the house...

Oh the new title is going to be "Strange Child's House of Business Cards"

:)
